Amtrak 3-Day Sale Features Discounted Fares From DC, Virginia
Are you thinking of a place you'd like to visit this year? The Amtrak sale starts on National Plan Your Vacation Day.

WASHINGTON, DC — If you feel like you don't use most of your vacation days, you're not alone. American workers collectively left 768 million vacation days unused in 2018, according to the U.S. Travel Association. That's why travel organizations encourage people to recognize National Plan Your Vacation Day on Tuesday, Jan. 28, a day for people to think about planning time off for the rest of the year. It's a timely reminder as Amtrak begins its three-day sale from Jan. 28 to 30.
Travelers can receive 30 percent off trips between Feb. 16 and May 31 on select lines. The sale includes lines that serve Virginia or DC — Northeast Regional, Acela, Carolinian/Piedmont and Vermonter. Other lines covered by the sale are the Downeaster, Keystone, Pennsylvanian, Maple Leaf, Empire Service, Adirondack and Ethan Allen.
For example, the sale price starts at $19 between Richmond and Washington, DC. A trip from New York City to DC starts at $128 on Acela and $39 on other lines; the price from Philadelphia to DC is $92 on Acela and $29 on other lines.
