Residents, Dogs Escape Fire at McLean Mansion Saturday Morning

A home was ablaze Saturday morning when Fairfax County Fire and Rescue arrived; family escaped after hearing smoke alarms.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A fire broke out at a home in the 800 block of Turkey Run Road early Saturday morning, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. Shortly after firefighters arrived, flames were showing through the roof, the fire department reported.

The residents -- six people and two dogs, according to a report by The Washington Post, were alerted to the fire by smoke alarms, and escaped, the fire department said.

The home, the Post reported, is owned by the embassy of the United Arab Emirates.

The fire department posted an alert about the fire Saturday morning at about 8 a.m. The 911 call came in at 7:58 a.m., according to The Washington Post report. About two hours later, the fire department reported that the bulk of the fire was extinguished. Crews were at that point in the process of extinguishing small pockets of fire at the home.
