MCLEAN, VA — Tuesday marked the start of the school year for Fairfax County Public Schools students and other local schools. Whether the school year looks different with virtual-only start or kids are heading to in-person classes, one tradition never fails.

As students get acclimated with the virtual format school day, we asked readers to share their first day of school photos. From snapshots of your home classroom to the traditional first day photos outside your homes, we want to see them.

Let us know in the comments how you think the first day went for FCPS or other local schools. Feel free to continue sharing first day photos by emailing Emily.Leayman@patch.com, and we'll add it to this story. By sharing a photo, you give Patch permission to republish it and confirm the photo belongs to you.
