Flooding Damage Closes Parts Of Fairfax County Parks, Roads
Several roads and parts of parks were damaged during the flash flooding on Monday, July 8.

MCLEAN, VA—After flash flooding ravaged the region on Monday, July 8, parts of Fairfax County parks and roads remain closed due to damage.
The Fairfax County Park Authority announced park closures continuing into Tuesday. "Park teams are still assessing damage and working to re-open all sites and amenities are quickly as possible," the park authority said in a Facebook post.

- Boat ramp at Riverbend Park, Great Falls
- Portions of the Potomac Heritage Trail at Riverbend Park, Great Falls
- West Parking Lot at Scotts Run, McLean
- Bridge at Lewinsville Park, McLean
- Pinecrest Golf Course, Lincolnia
- Pond trails at Green Spring Gardens Park, Lincolnia

The flooding also damaged a few roads, Fairfax County Police say. The 1300 block of Kirby Road in McLean will be closed for the long term due to significant damage. Other damaged road locations include:

Monday's storm produced stunning rainfall totals within a short time frame. According to the National Weather Service's preliminary rainfall totals, trained spotters recorded rainfall between 2.18 inches and 5.01 inches around Fairfax County.
