Freeze Warning Issued For Northern Virginia, DC
Temperatures should dip below freezing early Friday in northern Virginia and DC, prompting a freeze warning from the weather service.
WASHINGTON, DC — Spring flowers could suffer freeze damage early Friday morning as temperatures are predicted to drop to 30 degrees in some parts of northern Virginia. The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for the DC region.
Frost and freezing conditions could damage crops, sensitive vegetation and outdoor plumbing Friday morning, weather officials advised. To keep your plants safe from the freezing conditions, you should cover them.
To keep pipes from bursting, drain the water and then wrap the pipes, officials advise. Those with in-ground sprinkler systems are encouraged to drain them and cover above-ground pipes to keep them from freezing, according to the freeze watch.

The freeze warning is in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Friday, April 17.
It applies to Washington, D.C., Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church, Alexandria, Reston, Herndon, Annandale, Centreville, Chantilly, McLean, Franconia, Arlington, and Dahlgren.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 62. East wind 5 to 14 mph becoming south in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
Friday Night: Showers, mainly after 2am. Low around 47. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Saturday: Showers, mainly before 8am. High near 59. Northwest wind 7 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 39. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
