Ground Broken For Apartment Community At The Mile Development

TYSONS, VA — Real estate developer Kettler announced Thursday the groundbreaking of a residential apartment community at The Mile development in Tysons.

Brentford at the Mile, a 411-unit luxury apartment community, will be part of the 45-acre development's second phase. The new community will be near Highgate, a luxury apartment building Kettler completed on Jones Point Drive in 2017.

Brentford at the Mile is described by a Kettler news release as a mid-rise apartment community near the employers, shopping, restaurants and entertainment of Tysons. The first units are expected to be ready in spring 2022.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors had approved the mixed-use development called The Mile in July 2019 to give a new look to an office park between Westbranch Drive, Jones Branch Drive and Westpark Drive. There will be residential, office, hotel and retail uses with 10 new buildings over eight blocks. The location is about a half mile from the Tysons Corner Metro Station.

The development will be centered on a five-acre park called Signature Park. A dog park has already been constructed, and there will be 10 acres of green space surrounding the Brentford and Highgate residential communities.

Kettler's partner on the development is PS Business Parks, L.P., which specializes in the commercial property aspect.

"We're thrilled to be leading this transformational project in partnership with PS Business Parks as we begin construction on Brentford at The Mile."

Kettler was also involved in a number of recent developments in Tysons. VITA Tysons Corner, a 30-story luxury apartment tower, opened in May 2015. In partnership with The Meridian Group, Kettler developed Verse Condominiums, Rise and Bolden Apartments and 229,000 square feet of retail space at The Boro, which opened in fall 2019.
