The film is pegged as a "daughter’s private look into her mother’s public life," and touches on topics such as Ethel Kennedy's upbringing, her marriage into the Kennedy clan and the over-the-top parties at Hickory Hill, the McLean residence Ethel Kennedy called home for decades until she sold the property in 2011.

In the trailer, Ethel's son Joe Kennedy recalls a particularly raucous party where, "She had every single member of President Kennedy's cabinet knocked into the swimming pool."
