High Wind Warning Affects DC, Parts Of Northern Virginia Friday
The National Weather Service said winds may down trees and power lines, causing power outages, while DC, NoVA are under a high wind warning
WASHINGTON, DC — After several summer-like days, a cold front is arriving with strong winds Friday in the Northern Virginia and DC area.
Some areas are under a high wind warning through 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters expect 25 mph to 35 mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph.
The National Weather Service says damaging winds could bring down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected.

Areas under the warning are the District of Columbia, Arlington County, Falls Church, eastern Loudoun County and Fairfax County.
Other areas, including Prince William County, Manassas, Manassas Park, Stafford County, and Fredericksburg, are under a wind advisory through 2 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service anticipates winds between 20 mph and 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

As the cold front moves in, temperatures will be cooler, with highs around 70 and lows around the 40s. The weekend is expected to remain sunny, and high temperatures in the 80s will return on Sunday.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 70. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. At night, mostly clear, with a low around 44. Winds between 20 to 26 mph will continue, with gusts as high as 55 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 69. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. At night, mostly clear, with a low around 54 and southwest wind around 7 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph. At night, partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
Monday: A chance of showers after 9 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. The chance of showers continues at night before 3 a.m. with mostly cloudy weather and a low around 66. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 87 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent. At night, mostly cloudy with a low around 64 and chance of thunderstorms. The chance of precipitation at night is 50 percent.
