At the first football game of the season Thursday, Langley students held a pep rally before the match against Herndon.

Irina Pepper, 15, a sophomore and a football cheerleader, said the first game sets the tone for the start of the school year.

"It kicks off the season and it pumps everyone up," she said.

And just in case you were wondering about the actual score, Langley dominated against Herndon on Thursday. At halftime, the Saxons were up 21-0 against the Hornets. The final score was 42-14. Go Saxons! McLean High also beat Washington-Lee, 14-12.

Editor's Note: McLean Patch loves , too. We're Switzerland, as far as this rivalry is concerned. But since one editor can't be at two games in one night, (OK, maybe it's possible, but difficult, at best) Clarendon Patch covered the McLean vs. Washington-Lee game. We'll post pictures those later Friday.
