McLean Center Signs To Get $90,000 Renovation

New LED Screen

The proposed design for new $90,000 directional signs for the McLean Community Center were unveiled recently.

John Forgy, the designer hired by the board in the fall, showed a board committee a concept that will be a face-lift of the existing signs. It will include an LED screen to advertise performances and events at the center.

Forgy said he had hoped to move the name of the center to the top of the sign. The county rejected that idea, he said.

The LED screen will have four lines, he said. The MCC board decided last years to update its signs --- the sign at the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Dolley Madison Boulevard and a second sign at the entrance to the MCC. The sign also includes symbols for the Alden Theater, the Fairfax County Parks Authority and the McLean Project for the Arts.

Here is Forgy's rendering of the new sign. Let us know your thoughts.
