McLean Community Players Perform ‘Rumors’

The show runs through April and May.

The McLean Community Players are performing “Rumors” in April and May.

“Rumors” is Neil Simon’s only farce and is widely considered one of his funniest shows. The original Broadway production of “Rumors” opened Nov. 17, 1988, and ran for more than 500 performances.

Christine Baranski, one of the original cast members, won a Tony award for her performance.

Veteran Director Rosemary Hartman said in a statement, “ ‘Rumors’ is slightly different from most of Simon’s works because it is a farce, giving the actors an opportunity to perform in a slightly more exaggerated form. It is real people who are caught up in a ridiculous situation that makes them behave in a ridiculous manner.”
