McLean Giant Grocery Store Welcomes New In-Store Nutritionist
Nutritionist Marissa Donovan to serve McLean community at Giant grocery store.
McLEAN, VA -- Giant Food of Landover, Md. announced Monday that Marissa Donovan MS, RD, LDN, has joined Giant’s in-store nutritionist team at the Chain Bridge Road Giant in McLean. Her addition to the nutritionist program will help Giant further connect with customers, and provide them with the information and guidance they need to lead healthy lives. Donovan comes to Giant with an extensive background in both community nutrition and individual counseling.
“We are thrilled to welcome Marissa to the Giant team,” said Lisa Coleman, Lead Nutritionist, Giant Food of Landover, Md. “Her experience working in both group and individualized settings and her passion for helping her clients find health success make her a wonderful addition to Giant’s in-store nutritionist program.”
Donovan received her master’s degree in Nutrition Communication from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Syracuse University and completed her dietetic internship at Tri-County Health Department in Greenwood Village, Colo. Living an active lifestyle throughout her life and seeing the effects different diets can have on the body piqued Donovan’s interest in pursuing a career in nutrition.

“After going to college to study nutrition, I saw how many confusing and conflicting messages there are out there relating to health and nutrition and I knew I wanted to make it my mission to help dispel the myths and be a resource for people,” said Donovan. “Working as a nutritionist in a grocery store setting presents a perfect opportunity to help guide people to better options when shopping and preparing food.”
Donovan joins Giant’s team of nine in-store nutritionists across Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia who work with customers to help make the best nutritional choices for themselves and their families. Nutritionists conduct one-on-one consultations, store tours and free community classes to help their local customers realize the importance of eating healthily.
