McLean High Student Wins Honeywell Scholarship
Moses Chen attended the Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
A McLean High School student is among 227 students from 30 countries and 26 U.S. states and territories to win a scholarship to attend the 2013 Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
Moses Chen attended the academy Feb. 23 through March 8. He was the only student chosen from the Washington metro area. The program is designed to build leadership skills and to inspire the next generation of students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
Students engaged in interactive activities and workshops created to enhance their leadership fundamentals. That included simulating jet-fighter pilot training; participating in scenario-based space missions; designing, building and testing rockets; and meeting with top scientists, engineers and former astronauts to reinforce core leadership competencies and provide first-hand accounts of professional experiences.
