McLean Leukemia Survivor To Hold Lemonade Stand
Max, a leukemia survivor, and his brother Zach have raised nearly $17,000 to fight childhood cancer in past years.

MCLEAN, VA—A leukemia survivor and his brother are stepping up to raise money to find a cure for childhood cancer during their highly successful Lemonade Stand in McLean.
Max Foor and his younger brother Zach will hold their Lemonade Stand on Sunday, June 10 from noon-3:30 p.m. at Chesterbrook Elementary School (1753 Kirby Rd, McLean) as part of the nine-day fundraising effort for Alex's Lemonade Stand.
Max was diagnosed with leukemia in 2014. The following spring, the two siblings decided to hold their first Lemonade Stand. They were inspired by the story of Alex Scott, who began holding lemonade stands for childhood cancer and raised over $1 million before she died. "We knew we wanted to do something to help kids with cancer," Max wrote in a blog post for Alex's Lemonade Stand.

The family and local community rallied together to hold the first stand outside their elementary school. The first year, they began selling lemonade, snow cones and other sweet treats. Since then, they've added games and entertainment, and Max says they've got a surprise in store this time around.
In three years, Max and Zach's Lemonade Stand has raised nearly $17,000. They are considered all-star fundraisers since they've raised $2,000 or more just like Alex Scott did at her first lemonade stand.

This year is particularly special since Max has finished treatment. Their goal is $5,000.
"We love hanging out with our friends and neighbors and especially making snow cones for them. We feel proud to tell our friends and neighbors our story about surviving leukemia," writes Max. "We also feel good about being able to raise so much money for cancer research."
Held every June, Lemonade Days draws an estimated 10,000 volunteers holding over 2,000 lemonade stands to raise money for fighting childhood cancer. This year, fundraisers will happen from June 2-10. For more information, visit LemonadeDays.org.
