Bensten continues to recover from a serious sledding accident that took place in January. Supporters have rallied around him in McLean and online with the hashtag #Pray4BMan. Saturday was Bensten’s first outing since returning home from the hospital in March, his mother told The Washington Post. The newspaper reports Bentsen’s team has a new name: #Play4Bman
Werth is back with the Nats after a shoulder injury and recovery from surgery, according to news reports. The Washington Post notes that Werth’s son plays in the league.
Also on hand at Saturday’s game were Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-10th), Del. Rip Sullivan (D-48th), Del. Marcus Simon (D-53rd), state Sen. Barbara Favola (D-31st), Del. Kathleen Murphy (D-34th) and Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust (D).
The McLean Little League complex consists of four fields, a snackbar, free wifi and reportedly a pretty jammed parking lot.
