On behalf of McLean Area Branch of American Association of University Women
The McLean Area Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) is sponsoring its third annual STEM Essay Contest for 7th and 8th grade students attending McLean public and private schools. Middle school girls and boys (7th and 8th Graders) are asked to discover and publicize women who made a difference in STEM fields, but who did not receive recognition for their contributions while alive and whose contributions are not well known even today.
Each student can write and submit an essay of no more than 500 words to discuss the impact of one woman's contribution to STEM and why he or she picked that woman. We will award four prizes: First Place ($100), Second Place ($50), and Honorable Mention (2 Prizes, each $25).
