McLean Resident Hurt in Collision with Deer Near Downtown Today

A McLean resident was injured when her SUV collided with a young deer around 3 p.m. Thursday as she drove east on Chain Bridge Road at Lewinsville Park.

"He just ran into the car," said Suzanne Ross, a few minutes after the accident left her windshield in shreds and her chest dotted with glass slivers.

The dead deer lay a few feet away.

"Great Samaritans from McLean stopped to help me and the police came immediately," she said.

Maureen and Bill Jenkins were among those good Samaritans. "She was in the street just shaking and he [Bill] said 'We should stop,'" Maureen Jenkins said.

"We just saw her shaking . . . We thought she was stung by a bee," Jenkins said.

Fairfax County Police were on scene shortly after the accident.
