McLean Soccer Alum Joins Washington Spirit

McLean Youth Soccer Alum Carolina Miller is now part of Washington Spirit, the new Washington-area women's professional soccer team.

Miller was a member of McLean Freedom. A winner of multiple State Cup and Regional Championships, Miller was a member of the National Championship Freedom team when they were U16s.

A resident of Rockville, Md., Miller went on to play at the University of Virginia, where she won the ACC Offensive Player of the Year award in 2012.

According to McLean Youth Soccer, UVA Coach Steve Swanson praised her successes.

“In our sport a true goal scorer is someone who can consistently score against any team at anytime. Caroline is a true goal scorer and without a doubt one of the top goal scorers in the history of modern collegiate soccer. To have a run like she had last season where she scored 17 goals in 16 games against 12 teams that were ranked in the top 25 is an extraordinary accomplishment. We are very proud of her will and look forward to watching her at the next level do what she does best. … score goals.”

Miller’s career includes 45 career goals, ranked second in school history; 109 career points, ranked T-2nd in school history; seven career goals and 16 career points in NCAA Tournament game, both of which are school records; and 11 career multi-goal games, ranked second in school history.

In the 2012 season, Miller also won the MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist (first in school history) and was two-time ACC player of the week. She plays forward with the Washington Spirit.
