Moderate To Heavy Rain Prompts Flash Flood Watch For NoVA
The National Weather Service said several rounds of moderate to heavy rain are possible.
WASHINGTON, DC — Northern Virginia is under a flash flood watch as moderate to heavy rain is in the forecast Wednesday into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The watch takes effect Wednesday night and continues through Thursday morning. Forecasters expect several rounds of moderate to heavy rain and a few possible thunderstorms to linger through Thursday morning. The first round of rain is ongoing, and a lull could come Wednesday afternoon. The second round will resume Wednesday evening through the night.
The NWS expects rainfall totals between 2 to 4 inches through Thursday. Higher localized amounts are possible where heavier elements persist. That could cause localized flooding events.
