MORE Photos from McLean WinterFest 2012

The Sierra Club of Great Falls was one of many groups that came out to celebrate the community and the holiday at McLean WinterFest on Sunday.

If you were in McLean on Sunday, it was hard to miss WinterFest 2012, complete with holiday parade and an appearance made by Santa himself.

Susan Bonney, an officer with the Great Falls chapter of the Sierra Club, wrote to Patch, "Sierra Club members, friends, and neighbors from McLean and surroundings celebrated at the Winterfest Parade. The Sierra Club showed their support for mass transit with a homemade train car recycled from a refrigerator box. Roger Dietrich and Keith Bonney powered the train and evoked cheers from the parade bystanders as they approached the reviewing stand.   The train car float accompanied by bicycle riding Sierra Club volunteers support the group’s goals of encouraging green transportation and Smart Growth and supporting mass transit and Transit Oriented Development planning for Tyson’s Corner."

Bonney also shared the pictures posted above.
