MYS Coach Awarded 2018 Youth Coach of the Year

McLean Youth Soccer Coach Recipient of United Soccer Coaches Association Award

United Soccer Coaches announced the association's 2018 National Coaches of the Year for boys' and girls' youth and high school soccer on Wednesday, December 12. McLean Youth Soccer ECNL Girls Coach, Nadir Moumen, was the recipient of the Youth Coach of the Year award.

Moumen's successful coaching career highlights include his MYS '99 ECNL team winning the ECNL National Championship in 2018, his MYS ’96 ECNL team reaching the ECNL National Semi-Finals in 2015, six of his teams winning Mid-Atlantic ECNL Championships, and coaching a USYS National Finalist team. Over 100 of the athletes he has coached have gone on to play NCAA soccer and many others have been selected for elite ID programs including ODP, ECNL PDPs, National Training Centers, and ECNL National Training camps and Youth Nationals teams representing the United States, Iceland, Jamaica and Trinidad &Tobago, as well as one player that helped the senior Jamaica National team make the 2019 World Cup. Players coached by Moumen have also won accolades for high school soccer, including three Washington Post All-Met Players of the Year, more than 60 All-Met 1st Team, 2nd Team and Honorable Mention awards, and three Gatorade Virginia State Players of the Year.
