Numerous Roads Closed For Flooding Around Fairfax County
Fairfax County Police reported a number of weather-related road closures.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA—With the return of rainy weather comes a number of flooded roads Thursday, according to Fairfax County Police. The police department reported a number of road closures around the county due to flooding.
The following closures are in effect as of 4:45 p.m. Thursday:
- Fairfax Station: Fairfax Station Road at Innisvale Drive closed for water in the roadway (reopened)
- Fairfax Station: 6500 block of Colchester Road closed for water in the roadway (reopened)
- Fairfax Station: Burke Lake Road at Kilkenny Lane closed for water in the roadway (reopened)
- Tysons: Old Courthouse Road at Besley Road closed for water in the roadway
- Annandale: Woodburn Road at Spicewood Road closed for water in the roadway
- Burke: Burke Road at Heritage Square Drive closed for water in the roadway (reopened)
- Herndon: Fox Mill Road at Folkstone Drive closed for water in the roadway
- Vienna: Lawyers Road between Galloping Way and Whippoorwill Road closed for water in the roadway
- Vienna: Hunter Station Road closed for water in the roadway
- Wolf Trap: Hunter Mill Road at Hunter Station Road closed for water in the roadway
A flood watch is in effect for Fairfax County through 3 p.m. The National Weather Service said the heaviest rain was expected in the late morning but that rain will halt in the early afternoon. The area could receive total rainfall around 1 inch. Higher amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are possible in isolated areas.

Forecasters say the nearly frozen ground and saturated soils made flooding possible in low-lying urban areas. Streams and creeks may also rise past their banks.
