Powerball Winner In McLean Scores $2 Million
The ticket would have won $1 million if the winner hadn't spent an extra dollar to double the prize.

MCLEAN, VA —On Wednesday, over 76,000 Powerball tickets in Virginia won prizes in the drawing. But it was a McLean winner that stood out amongst the rest.
The Virginia lottery player in McLean won $2 million by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Powerball number in the Jan. 13 drawing. The second prize would have normally won $1 million, but the player spent an extra dollar on Power Play to double the prize.
The player was not identified by Virginia Lottery. The winning ticket was bought on the Virginia Lottery website. Virginia Lottery allows online purchase of Powerball, Mega Millions and Cash4Life tickets along with new instant games only available online.
