Traffic Alert This Week: Closings-30 Minute Overnight Beltway, Dulles Connector, Jones Branch

Major traffic turmoils in McLean and Tysons Corner.

Neighbors are reminded that following Friday night's storm, if they come to an intersection where all traffic signals are dark, that intersection should be treated as a four-way stop.

This week's list of traffic turmoils that will confront the neighbors  caused by the dual construction of the Metro and the HOT Lanes in Tysons Corner.

VDOT SUSPENDS LANE CLOSURES starting noon Tuesday, July 3, until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 5, in observation of the Independence Day Holiday.

I-495 south from Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) to Oak St. overpass - Three lanes closed Monday, Thursday and Friday nights for overhead sign and paving work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east at I-495 - Two left lanes closed Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday nights for sign installation. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Jones Branch Dr. north and south from Westpark Dr. to Westbranch Dr. - Road closed Monday, Thursday and Friday nights for sign work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.

Westpark Dr. overpass at Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) - Road closed Monday, Thursday and Friday nights for sign work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.

I-495 north from Oak St. overpass to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) - Three lanes closed Monday and Thursday - Saturday nights for paving, painting, and utility work.  Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

I-66 west at I-495.  Three lanes will close  Friday night, July 6, from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m., Saturday, July 7, for removal of an old overhead box girder. After midnight, the fourth lane will close for up to 30 minutes at a time throughout the night. Motorists should expect a one hour temporary stoppage to occur between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

Crews will also close Exit 49, I-495 south to I-66 west and traffic will be directed to continue on I-495 south to Exit 52B, Little River Turnpike (Route 236) east, follow signage to I-495 north to Exit 49A, I-66 west. Should inclement weather cancel this work it will be rescheduled for Saturday, July 7.

Ramp from Southbound I-495 to Southbound Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) Closed Overnights Next Week
 
Dulles Corridor Metrorail construction will close the ramp from southbound I-495 onto southbound Route 123 next week to allow for work on the guideway (flyover bridge) that crosses the highway. This ramp will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 2 and Thursday, July 5 through Saturday, July 7.
 
Ramp from Southbound Route 123 onto Eastbound Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) to Close Overnights Next Week
 
The ramp from southbound Route 123 onto eastbound Route 267 will be closed next week due to roadwork in the area. This ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday, July 1, 2, 5, and 6, respectively.
 
Left Turns from Eastbound Route 7 onto Spring Hill Road to Close Overnights
 
The left turn lanes from eastbound Route 7 to Spring Hill Road will close overnights next week, due to precast concrete installation at nearby Spring Hill (Tysons West) Station. These lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, July 1, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, July 2 and Thursday, July 5, and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7.
 
The left thru lane of eastbound Route 7 will also be closed between Westwood Center Drive and Spring Hill Road during this time. Please note that two left thru lanes will be closed on Sunday, July 1 only.
 
Left Turns from Westbound Route 7 onto Westwood Center Drive to Close Overnights
 
Acoustical panel installation will cause the left turn lanes from westbound Route 7 onto Westwood Center Drive to close nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, July 2 and Thursday, July 5, and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7.
 

 The left thru lane of westbound Route 7 will be closed from approximately 1500 feet east of Spring Hill Road and Westwood Center Drive during this time.
 
Eastbound Tysons Boulevard Thru Lanes to Close Overnights Thursday through Saturday
 
Eastbound Tysons Boulevard thru lanes will be closed between Route 123 and Galleria Drive overnights Thursday, July 5 through Saturday, July 7 to allow for precast concrete panel installation at nearby Tysons Corner (Tysons Central 123) Station.
 
This also will require the closures of the turn lanes on to Tysons Boulevard from northbound and southbound Galleria Drive. These lane closures will be implemented from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, and from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7.
