Tysons Named Top Booming Virginia Suburb In RENTCafé Study

TYSONS, VA — If you drive through Tysons and see all of the new buildings going up, it shouldn't come as a surprise that it is Virginia's top booming suburbs for apartment growth.

Apartment listing service RENTCafé conducted a study of which suburbs have the most new apartment units around the U.S. The study was conducted as the COVID-19 pandemic spurs a growing interest in suburban America, particularly

Whether or not you would classify the bustling Tysons a suburb, it leads Virginia in apartment deliveries in the last five years. According to the study, there were nearly 17,200 units added in suburban Virginia since 2016; Tysons was first among the state's suburbs with 2,562 new units. It is also ranked 10th among suburbs nationwide.

The study noted that Tysons' apartment supply has a 42 percent share of newly built rentals in the last five years. High rise-buildings with at least 13 floors account for the growth of new apartments.
