Virginia Weekend Weather: From 27 to 66 Degrees

Temperatures will go from below freezing Friday into the 60s and maybe even hit 70 on Sunday. Here's a temperature timeline.

Northern Virginia is riding a weather rollercoaster this week with highs in the 70s earlier this week, to snow flurries and freezing temperatures Thursday and Friday. Around the region Friday, temperatures are hovering in the high 20s, with an expected high for the day at about 38 degrees. Brrrr!

But hold on to your hats, temperatures are expected to swing back into the 60s over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday

  • 8 a.m.: 41 degrees
  • 12 noon: 56 degrees
  • 4 p.m.: 64 degrees
  • 8 p.m.: 54 degrees

Will we reach 70 degrees Sunday?

The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 66 degrees on Sunday in the region, with the warmest part of the day at about 4 p.m. The Capital Weather Gang says temps could go even higher: "If we see more sunshine than currently expected we could top 70."

There's about a 40 percent chance of showers on Sunday, according to the weather service.

The weather forecast for the work week next week is looking mostly sunny, with fairly mild temperatures, with highs at about 50 degrees, the National Weather Service predicts. The average temperature for the area in February is about 42 degrees, according to U.S. climate data.
