Winter Storm: McLean Hour-By-Hour Forecast

The first day of spring isn't so spring-like as a snow storm moves in. Here's an hourly look at when it will start snowing.

It's the first day of spring, but you wouldn't know that from the forecast alone. Forecasters are calling for snow Tuesday and Wednesday.

While much of the winter has been a bust for the DC region, the latest forecast from the Capital Weather Gang shows McLean on the border of the area getting 2 to 5 inches and the area to the north getting 6 to 12 inches.

Tuesday began with rain in the early morning with a wintry mix possible in the afternoon. That rain could turn into snow as soon as the late afternoon and again in the early morning hours Wednesday. Once the snow starts Wednesday, it could stick around most of the day.

Heavy snow causing trees and tree branches to fall and bring down power lines will be a concern Wednesday. Dominion Power customers should report outages online or by calling 866-366-4357. Plan ahead by keeping your phone charge and following other outage safety preparations.
