
Much to Do About Climate Change

We live in an ever-changing society that is riddled with environmental issues surrounding climate change aka global warming. There are millions of people organizing daily in support of reducing greenhouse gas emissions statewide and on the national levels. While states are in support of reducing greenhouse gas emissions it has been an uphill battle trying to convince the current administration to get serious about climate change. While risking the lives of the American people in exchange for profits to the companies that fund elections, President Trump and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt blatantly violate many parts of our Constitution but mainly the first part that reads “ We The People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. How are we, the American people able to form a more perfect Union if we are all dying due to the negligence of the EPA Administrator denying climate change is real and that human activity contributes to the elevation of climate? How are we, the American people on the receiving end of justice when our government is the one who is killing us? How are we, the American people insured domestic tranquility when our government is defunding the very administration whose sole responsibility it is to ensure that we are protected from environmental hazards? How can we, the American people provide for the common defense if we aren’t healthy enough to join the military? How can we, the American people promote the general Welfare when we aren’t healthy enough to work? How can we, the American people secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity when we won’t be well enough to stand up for ourselves? Upon all these things this nation was built and in 1 year, our current Administration as turned our country into one that is not great but into one that none of us can recognize, one that our founding Fathers couldn’t recognize. Our President and EPA Administrator should take a closer look at the document that they swore an oath to preserve and begin to move in a way that would make America great again. The American people depend on our government to provide mechanisms that will protect us and our families not to derail all the work that has been done to expose us to important scientific facts that would help save lives and our planet as we know it today. We depend on a fully funded EPA with and intact Environmental Justice department. We depend on our President and EPA Administrator to work with scientist not discredit them, especially when the facts surrounding climate change are so evident. We can see the effects of climate change happening all over the nation and it will cost the American people more in the long run if we don’t do all that we can do to slow down and or stabilize climate change. Some of the ways that we can do this by not repealing the Clean Power Plan and rejoining the Paris Accord. There are things that we can do ourselves to reduce our carbon footprints. You can start to reduce your own carbon footprints by doing things like turning off the lights, eating local and organic and insulating your home. By doing small things while expressing concern to our legislators on both the state and federal levels we can show that we are dedicated to our environment and to the planet, that we want a government that is responsive to the needs of the people which means being responsible care takers of the nation by being environmentally responsible.
