Virginia, DC's Most Dangerous Intersections: Report

These intersections were rated as the worst in Virginia and DC by a recent survey. What would you say is the region's worst intersection?

WASHINGTON, DC — A number of crossroads in Virginia and The District could be contenders for the worst intersection ever. But there is one in each region that stands above the rest as the most dangerous when it comes to fatal crashes.

The most dangerous intersection in Virginia is Big Bethel Road and Hampton Roads Center Parkway, in Hampton, according to a recent survey, while the worst intersection in Washington, D.C., is ranked as Minnesota Avenue and Benning Road. Data from the National Highway Travel Safety Administration was used in determining the ranking, as was crowd-sourced information.

Time Magazine compiled a list of each state's most dangerous intersection based on a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study on fatal crashes, counting how many occurred within about 150 feet of one another between 2003 and 2012.
