2 Dead, 8 Injured In Virginia Beach Shootings: Police
Two people were killed in two separate shooting incidents late Friday night, and eight people injured in total.
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Two people were killed and eight others injured in a pair of shootings, one officer-involved, in Virginia Beach Friday night.
The first shooting happened just before 11:30 p.m., police said. Officers reported hearing gunshots while patrolling the resort area of 1900 Atlantic Avenue, and found several gunshot victims in the area of 17th and 22 Streets.
Eight people were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from serious to life-threatening, police said. One woman died from her injuries at the scene. One Virginia Beach police officer was injured and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A second, officer-involved shooting happened in connection with the first, police said. A man who police said was involved with the initial shooting died of his injuries at the scene. The officer involved has been with the department for five years, according to the department, and will be placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated, as is protocol.
The investigation into the shooting is still underway. Police asked residents to avoid the area since several streets are still blocked off.
