300 Virginia leaders gather at FIDF Gala

Virginia community fundraises $250K to support Israeli soldiers

Some 300 Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) supporters from the Virginia community gathered on Thursday, Dec. 5 for the FIDF Virginia Second Annual Gala, β€œA Night of Heroes,” at the Hilton Norfolk. The FIDF event raised over $250,000 toward the organization’s well-being and educational programs for Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers.

Co-chairing the gala were FIDF supporters Ilana and Nathan Benson of Virginia Beach. FIDF Mid-Atlantic Region Chair Gary Applebaum emceed the event.

A group of IDF soldiers participated in the gala, including several FIDF IMPACT! recipients and Sgt. Ilana, a Norfolk native and active duty Lone Soldier, one who voluntarily enlists in the IDF without immediate family in Israel.

Other distinguished guests included FIDF Virginia Chapter President Cookie Blitz; FIDF Virginia Chapter Vice President Joel Nied; FIDF National Director and CEO Maj. Gen. (Res.) Meir Klifi-Amir; FIDF Mid-Atlantic Region Executive Director Ari Dallas; and FIDF Virginia Director Alex Pomerantz.

β€œWe are so honored to have hosted this incredible event for the second time and to give our supporters the opportunity to hear directly from and thank the brave soldiers who protect Israel – and Jews worldwide,” said Pomerantz.
