Norfolk 2017 City Election Results: Democrats Lead The Way

Virginians elected Democrat Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam to serve as governor. But that wasn't the only race Norfolk voters had to decide.

NORFOLK, VA — Election Day is over and Virginians elected Democrat Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam on Tuesday to serve as the Commonwealth's next governor. But that wasn't the only race that Norfolk voters had to decide.

In the race for Virginia's lieutenant governor, Democrat Justin Fairfax defeated Republican Jill Vogel. Mark Herring, Virginia's incumbent Democratic attorney general, also defeated Republican challenger John Adams.

Local elections

Democrats Steve Heretick, Matthew James and Joseph "Joe" Lindsey each ran unopposed for Virginia's 79th district delegate, 80th district delegate and 90th district delegate, respectively.

Republican Chris Stolle had a slight lead over Democrat David Rose-Carmack for Virginia's 83rd district delegate Tuesday night, with just 51 percent of the vote.

In the race for Virginia's 89th district delegate, Democrat Jerrauld "Jay" Jones soundly defeated Libertarian Terry Richard Hurst.

In the battle for Virginia's 100th district delegate, Democrat Willie Randall was leading big over Republican Robert Bloxom, Jr.

Greg Underwood and C. Evans Poston, Jr. ran unopposed for Norfolk's commonwealth's attorney and commissioner of revenue, respectively.

Joseph "Joe" Baron had a large lead Tuesday night over R. L. "Reggie" Spruill, Sean Jones and Neil Bradley, Jr. in the battle for Norfolk sheriff. Baron had nearly 60 percent of the vote.

In the race for city treasurer, Daun Sessoms Hester defeated Michael Voogd, Matt Hales and Nicole Sanders.
