Oakton Teen Needs Votes to Audition for "The Voice"

An Oakton High School senior is now one of the handful of finalists for a chance to compete on the NBC TV show, "The Voice."  But she's asking everyone to go online and vote for her before the public voting period ends on April 23.

Chelsea Townsend, who has been singing and acting since elementary school, decided to respond to an online contest sponsored by NBC4 in Washington for a chance to be one of four people selected to auditon for the television show, The Voice.  Contestants had to record themselves singing a song from a list provided by the contest.

Chelsea received an e-mail Thursday announcing she is one of the top 25 finalists. Now comes the real challenge — getting the most votes to be one of the four. People go online, pick their favorite and vote — up to four times a day. So, Chelsea is hoping friends, family and social media will help her win.

"I'm the only one from Oakton in the finalists," Townsend said. "I have red hair. So help me win."
