Coyers End High School Careers with Standout All-Star Performance
Caroline and Katherine Coyer combined for 38 points in the West All-Star team's 98-75 win
Before leaving for Villanova University to continue their basketball careers, the Coyer twins made the best of their last high school athletic competition with standout performances in the VHSCA All-Star Game at Christopher Newport University on Monday night.
Caroline and Katherine Coyer, recent Oakton High graduates, combined for 38 points to help lead the West squad to a dominant 98-75 victory. Caroline Coyer led the team with 21 points and five assists, while Katherine Coyer added 17 points and six assists. Angela Mickens, a Robert E. Lee High (Staunton) graduate committed to play for James Madison University, tallied 14 points and five assists for the West team.
The West team had a convincing lead for most of the game, as they headed into halftime up 50-34. The East cut the lead to single digits in the third quarter, but the West recovered to again stretch their lead into the double-digits.

Caroline Coyer, who sank three 3-pointers in the game, was named MVP for the West squad. The East's Jazzmin Dabney (Highland Springs) earned MVP honors for her team.
The Coyers' All-Star performance caps a high school career filled with milestones. Oakton High retired Caroline Coyer's jersey last month after a high school career that saw her and to join fellow Oakton graduate Jasmine Thomas as the only players in the state to exceed 500 career assists and 1,500 career points. and was named MVP of the VHSL AAA Girls Basketball Tournament after a 24-point game to lead the Cougars to .
