Inova Fairfax Hospital Ranked No. 1 in Region in Recent Study

For the fourth year in a row, Inova Fairfax Hospital ranked first in the Washington region in U.S. News and World Report’s latest hospital rankings, released earlier this week.

However, the rankings were based more on areas of care than the pecking order in a given geographic region. Hospitals were ranked in order of excellence within 16 different specialties, distancing the list from a declaration of “good and bad hospitals” and instead focusing on which hospitals deliver the best care in certain areas.

Inova Fairfax Hospital was among 137 of the 4,700 hospitals analyzed by U.S. News to earn a national ranking in at least one specialty.

Here’s what U.S. News and World Report had to say about Inova Fairfax Hospital:

• The hospital ranked No. 1 in the Washington metro region and No. 3 in the commonwealth of Virginia

• It’s nationally ranked in one adult specialty (No. 30 in gynecology)

• It’s nationally ranked in two pediatric specialties (No. 29 in Neonatology; No. 47 in Pediatric Cardiology and Heart Surgery)

• The hospital earned a “high performing” rating in eight other adult specialties, as well as two common care procedures.
