Meet Buddy: The All-American Pup
Buddy is a sweet, affectionate, and active Lab mix who is looking for a family to call his own.
Hey Guys! My name is Buddy and I'm a handsome all-American, 2-year-old Lab-Hound mix who weighs about 65 pounds. I’m a young, active pup who loves to run and play, and will fetch balls of any kind. I have a football and basketball that I treasure, and love to play soccer, but I’m not picky. All play is good. I’m also a very cuddly and affectionate dog, who bonds closely with my person. I can be your running partner and your snuggle buddy, but mostly I just want to be your loyal companion.
My foster mom calls me a “guy’s dog” because I love to play ball and roughhouse, but the truth is she’s my new favorite person in the world and I follow her everywhere. She takes me on long walks and the occasional morning run, and she's had such a positive impact on my life. Since I’ve been in my foster home, we’ve worked with a trainer to learn how to walk properly on leash and greet visitors who come to the house. I’ve learned how to go to my special spot when someone comes to the door and, once I see my foster mom approves of them, I great guests with love and enthusiasm. Sometimes I still have a little too much enthusiasm, and will jump up to see if they will play with me, but I’m trying to learn how not to do that.
Not only is my foster mom awesome, but I also get along great with her two 20-something kids. My foster brother, Yannick, is my bud and teaches me cool tricks. He gave me the basketball and football that I kick and chew around the house, and we even play soccer together. He takes me on play dates with his friends’ dogs and I have a blast. Now that Yannick is home from school for the summer, I love to hang out with him in his room or on the couch. Although I’m great with older kids, I’m big enough that I’m not the best fit for smaller children. I still have a lot of puppy energy and excitement in me, so I need a family who can lead me and will commit to my daily exercise, playtime, and continued training. I need an active home and a leader who will teach me boundaries and take charge so I don’t have to. A fenced yard would be ideal.

All in all, I’m a sweet pup who will make a great companion. I’m crate-trained, potty-trained, know my basic commands, and my foster mom trusts me to have free roam of the house. I’ve learned to walk well on leash and am pretty good when I see other dogs in my neighborhood. I fancy myself a hunting/tracking pup and will follow the scent of rabbits, deer, and squirrels as I walk along trails and through the woods. If I see a deer, I curiously look at them and move on, but squirrels and kitties are a different story. I will chase them if you let me, but will also listen to “No.”
My favorite thing to do is to chase balls in the back yard, but I also like to bask in the sun, play tug with my rope toys, and I’m always up for a good bone chew. Please know that any and all squeaky toys will not survive for long under my watch.

Like all pups, I have a goofy side. I have a thing for slippers, but not shoes. I never destroy the slippers, but I do like to throw them in the air and then chase them. I’m also a huge fan of popcorn. As soon as I hear or smell popcorn being made, I get very excited and will do just about anything for a buttery nugget. I love it so much that my family has used it for training over any other kind of treat.
So that’s me in a nutshell. I’m a handsome, all-American pup who needs a structured home and a dedicated owner who’ll make sure I get plenty of exercise, playtime, and human loving every day.
