Mexican Restaurant From Tequila Grande Owners Opens In Oakton
Tequila Grande is closed in Vienna, but you can check out Chef Renu Prakash's new restaurant Mama Tigre.
OAKTON, VA — A new restaurant from the owners of Vienna's Tequila Grande has opened in Oakton. Mama Tigre is serving up Mexican food at 10443 White Granite Drive.
The Vienna VA Foodies Facebook group announced the Mama Tigre opening, noting that Tequila Grande was closed due to planned redevelopment of the site. Before opening Mama Tigre, owner and chef Renu Prakash and her husband, AJ, had operated restaurants for the last 36 years — Tequila Grande in Vienna and Casa Rico in Frederick, Maryland.
Last year, Tysons Reported confirmed that Tequila Grande's owners were planning to move their operations to the Oakton location, formerly home to a Bob Evans restaurant. The Tequila Grande site is part of the redevelopment plans at 430-444 Maple Avenue West. The rezoning plan submitted to the town government called for a four-story mixed-use building with 151 multifamily residential units and 20,000 square feet of commercial or retail space. Vienna Town Council approved the rezoning in October 2018.
