Muriel O. Rogers, 84, of Oakton

Muriel O. Rogers passed away on August 12, 2015 at the age of 84 at home in Oakton, Va. She was born November 19, 1930 in London, England.

Following graduation from Somerville College at Oxford University in 1952, she attended the University of Mississippi as a Fulbright Scholar where she taught World History.

She married George Rogers in 1953 and they settled in Vicksburg, Miss., where she raised her family, taught school, and supported her husband’s political career as a Mississippi state legislator for a quarter century before moving to northern Virginia where she worked as a paralegal.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years George W. Rogers, Jr., three sons Paul (Jan), John (Kate), and Peter (Rose) and daughter, Elizabeth Falls (Scott), nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Muriel was a member of Lewinsville Presbyterian Church since 1978. Muriel was an ordained Ruling Elder and a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church and served faithfully in both of these capacities at Lewinsville. She also served as the Lewinsville church librarian for many years.

Visitation will be held at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Avenue W, Vienna, Va., 22180, Monday evening, August 17, 6-8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 18 at 11 a.m. at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church with the burial
immediately following in the Lewinsville Church cemetery. A reception will then be held in St. Andrews Hall.
