Oakton Divers Prevail at NVSL Division 3 Dive Meet

The Otters sent 16 divers to the NVSL Division 3 dive meet held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Pinecrest Swim and Tennis Club . Five Otter divers qualified to compete in the NVSL All-Star meet based on their performance at the meet (first or second place finish): Samantha Shuster (Freshman Girls, second); Jon Anthony Montel (Freshman Boys, second); Spencer Dearman (Intermediate Boys, first); Sarah Gurley (Senior Girls, first); and Liam Klopfenstein (Senior Boys, first). Two Otter divers qualified as alternates for the All-Star meet: Molly Estes (Intermediate Girls, fourth) and Josh Shipley (Intermediate Boys, fourth). The Otter divers who received medals (top six places) were: Christina Angelicchio (Junior Girls, sixth); Brendan Doe (Junior Boys, sixth); Claire Newberry (Intermediate Girls, fifth); and Blaise Wuest (Intermediate Boys, sixth). The other Otter divers who competed were: Megan Shipley (Freshman Girls, 7th); Isabelle Whang (Freshmen Girls, 10th); Kalina Montel (Intermediate Girls, 7th); Nicholas Shuster (Intermediate Boys, 12th); and Kyla Straker (Senior Girls, 8th).

The Otters also took home the Division 3 trophy at the meet as the undefeated champions.

The NVSL Dive All-Stars will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Oakton Swim and Racquet Club. The top divers from each event in each division will compete in this meet.
