Oakton High School Graduate, VMI Cadet Dies During Training
Sean Duc Hoang reportedly collapsed Monday during a run across campus as part of regularly scheduled physical training.
An Oakton High School graduate and Virginia Military Institute cadet collapsed during regularly scheduled physical training and died earlier this week, a VMI spokesman confirmed to multiple media sources including the Washington Post.
Sean Duc Hoang, 18, was running on the school’s campus Monday when he collapsed. He was reportedly running with his Army Reserve Officer Training Corps unit, which included both freshmen and upper-class cadets.
Hoang reportedly received treatment from VMI medical personnel and was later taken to Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Roanoke Times reported the state medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.
