Providence District Meeting Planned On 2022 Fairfax County Budget

OAKTON, VA — After Fairfax County Executive Bryan Hill presented his fiscal year 2022 budget proposal, a Providence District town hall meeting on the budget will be held on Monday, March 8 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Providence District Supervisor Dalia Palchik will host the town hall with the district's School Board representative Karl Frisch and the Providence District Council. Other participants include Joe Mondoro, Fairfax County's chief financial officer; Leigh Burden, assistant superintendent for the Department of Financial Services at Fairfax County Public Schools; and Jeff Agnew, Providence District Council president.

Residents will have the chance to learn about the budget, provide feedback and ask questions. Questions can be submitted in advance by email to Providence@fairfaxcounty.gov, or provided live during the town hall through Facebook Live comments or a dial-in phone number. The phone number will be provided on the day of the event.

The town hall can be viewed on the Channel 16 livestream, Cable Channel 16, or Supervisor Palchik's Facebook Live.

The proposed county budget calls for a one-cent real estate tax cut, which would make the real estate tax rate $1.14 per $100 of assessed value. But based on increased property assessment values, the average real estate tax bill could go up by $224. The Board of Supervisors will hold public hearings on April 13 to 15, mark-up of the budget on April 27, and adoption on May 4.
