Thunderstorms Present Chance of Flash Flooding: NWS Reports
Heavy rainfall is expected in the Fairfax County area throughout the day and into Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook throughout Fairfax County in advance of thunderstorms in Thursday’s forecast.
According to the NWS, because the Northern Virginia region has experienced such dry weather in the last week, these particular storms present the risk of flash flooding, especially in more urbanized areas.
Heavy rainfall is expected to arrive in the area sometime during the late-morning or early-afternoon hours on Thursday, and the NWS hourly forecast says there’s a chance for that rainfall to intensify into thunderstorms throughout the middle of the day.
