Wolf Trap to Kick Off August with String of Popular Shows

Wolf Trap will bring musicals, a popular film with National Symphony Orchestra accompaniment and a famous comedian to the stage on Aug. 1-2.

When the calendar turns from July to August, Wolf Trap will keep the summer fun coming with a tremendous lineup of performances on the weekend of Saturday, Aug. 1, and Sunday, Aug. 2.

Beginning on Aug. 1, Steven Blier and the Wolf Trap Opera Soloists will perform a collection of songs from Rodgers Family musicals, including Richard Rodgers’ Oklahoma and Mary Rodgers’ Once Upon a Mattress.

The show will begin at 3 p.m. that Saturday, and another show will take place at the same time on the following day. Tickets are currently on sale for $46, and both shows will take place in the Barns at Wolf Trap.

On the evening of Aug. 1, a special presentation of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek (the 2009 remake) will be shown in HD on the big screen at Wolf Trap.

But what’ll make this viewing experience so unique and exhilarating is that the soundtrack will be performed live by the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Emil de Cou.
