National Integrative Wellness Center Gets People Moving!

The Fairfax County-based nonprofit held a fitness/wellness community event January 20 with the goal of burning calories

Here at National Integrative Wellness and Resource Center, we are always brainstorming events that will get the community involved while staying active and healthy. We think exercise is an important part of life because it boosts your immune system, enhances your mood, and can even produce a soothing and calming effect for some. Our goal is to bring happiness to our area while being active and meeting new people in an environment free from judgement.

On January 20th , we held a wellness event for the community with the goal of burning 1000 calories. The event in Fairfax was a huge success; a lot of people from the area joined us and we had amazing instructors and volunteers to help make it happen. Along with burning 1000 calories at the event, we learned
some simple ways to stay fit, had inspirational speakers and refreshments and snacks. All of the proceeds from the event went towards community events and programs for individuals with disabilities
and special needs.

To burn all of those calories at the event, we did push-ups, squats, Zumba, ab work outs, and ended it with stretching and practicing flexibility. We want to give a special thanks to everyone involved in making this event happen – our motivational speakers Mel and Ralph, the trainers, our staff and volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who came get active with us. This amazing event would not have happened without you. We feel happy to share the importance of health and wellness with our community while having fun and never judging others.
