ALEXANDRIA, VA — While the pandemic has resulted in numerous event cancellations, the King Street Art Festival is planned to go on with a new name and location for 2020. The festival, renamed as the Alexandria Old Town Art Festival, will happen on Sept. 12 and 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at John Carlyle Square just south of Duke Street.

"The city and the Old Town Associations feel the new location will provide a solution to the challenges faced with the intense traffic and parking for both artists and patrons alike," reads a statement from Howard Alan Events on the festival website.

Admission is free, but the event will require time slots reserved through Eventbrite. There will be safety protocols in place, including a face mask requirement for everyone except children under age 2. Entrances and exits will follow one-way traffic, and guests are asked to practice physical distancing, use hand sanitizer and hand washing stations, and avoid casual touching of items.
