Adoptable Alexandria Pet: Senior Cat Betsy Wins Hearts

While senior cat Betsy is deaf, she'll be paying attention when you have toys or treats.

Are you looking to adopt a pet? Consider adopting from Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which provides shelter to pets in need. Patch partners with AWLA to share some of their furry friends up for adoption. To mark Veterans Day weekend on Nov. 10-12, adoption fees are waived for active duty, reserve and retired military, military with previous experience and first responders.

As November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, our featured pet this week is Betsy, a female tabby. She's deaf but has a sweet, playful nature when she gets comfortable.

Betsy, Senior, Spayed Female, Gray Tabby
It's Adopt a Senior Pet Month, so we would like to introduce Betsy! Betsy is a very special cat looking for a very special family. Miss Betsy lost her home of 14 years, where she felt safe and loved, and came to our busy shelter. It was a huge adjustment for such a sensitive gal, but thanks to lots of extra attention from our staff, Betsy is starting to blossom. Betsy is deaf, but all you have to do is pick up a treat bag and she is at full attention! She also loves her laser pointer toys! Betsy is looking for a gentle house with gentle people who will give her space when she’s settling in and feed her tuna until she knows you're okay. She would do best as an only pet so that she can focus all of her energy on supervising people, not pets. If you think you might be that special family for Betsy, please stop by to say hello and help Betsy find a new home where she can feel safe and loved again.
