Alexandria School Building Closures Continue Friday

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Due to the winter weather, Alexandria City Public School buildings are closed on Friday.

Alexandria City Public Schools closed all buildings while virtual learning continues on Friday. All programs and services at ACPS school buildings and facilities are canceled, including child care programs offered by ACPS partners, and the Tech Help Desk. Food distribution at school sites will open on Friday, Feb. 19 on a delayed schedule at 10 a.m.

Essential ACPS employees may be asked to report for work on an as-needed basis. Contractors should report for work unless notified otherwise by the project manager.

DASH Bus will run regular weekday service and regular routes on Friday, while AT2X, AT3 and AT4 are on two-hour extended morning schedules.

The City of Alexandria's Thursday closure applied to government facilities and courts. Alexandria Library locations are closed on Thursday and curbside appointments are canceled. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria will is also closed on Thursday; animal concerns can be directed to Alexandria’s Animal Services at 703-746-4774.

The city's refuse and recycling collection was postponed on Thursday. Wednesday routes will be collected on Friday, and Thursday routes will be collected on Saturday.

Alexandria and the region are under a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Friday. Hazardous conditions from the winter weather could impact the Friday morning commute.
