Alexandria Grocery Store Will Close After 64 Years
The 18,000-square-foot Giant Food is much smaller compared to newer locations.

Alexandria will be saying goodbye to a local grocery store next month.
Giant Food will close its doors due to space limitations, according to The Washington Post. The 530 First Street location stands at 18,000-square-feet while the newer buildings average around 50,000 to 60,000.
The tiny building competes with several nearby food stores including Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, and Trader Joe’s just a few miles away.
