Alexandria To Host 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The city's ceremony to honor Sept. 11 victims and first responders will be in Market Square, but has an alternate location in case of rain.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The city of Alexandria will host its annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony on 10 a.m. Tuesday in Market Square, in the heart of Old Town at 301 King St. In case of rain, the ceremony will take place in the Lee Center Auditorium, 1108 Jefferson St.

The event will mark the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001; remember all those killed, injured or otherwise affected; and honor those who gave their lives to save others while courageously responding to the incident.

Mayor Allison Silberberg will give remarks during the ceremony, along with representatives from Alexandria’s public safety agencies – Fire Chief Robert Dubé, Police Captain Don Hayes and Sgt. Sean Casey of the Sheriff’s Office. The tribute also will include the “Return to Quarters” bell-ringing ceremony.
