Alexandria Irish Festival Returns With Pipe Bands, Food

Pipe bands, Irish dancers and food vendors are among the festivities planned for the festival.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — If you've put away your Irish attire after the Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade in March, get it out again. The city will celebrate everything Irish during the annual Alexandria Irish Festival on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Waterfront Park.

The festival features Irish dancers, pipe bands, food, a beer truck, vendors, crafts and more. Attendance is free.

The Alexandria Irish Festival is run by the Ballyshaners, the non-profit group that also puts together the St. Patrick's Day Parade. The group was founded in the 1980s by the late Pat Troy.
